Back to school

Sarah and David spent almost three years at Crib Point Primary School in the 70s. When we were on the Mornington Peninsula we visited the school and were shown around by the headmistress. (In the school photo Sarah is third from the left in the front row and David far right of second row.)

Have just discovered the most extraordinary coincidence. Did a google image search of “Crib Point primary school 1970s” and the class photo on your blog came up. I am from the UK but lived in Australia from 1977-1979 when my father was posted to HMAS Cerberus – we lived in Darley Road. I recognised our primary school teacher Miss de Lange in the photo but also saw the name in the blog is Shillingford and the name “David” is mentioned. I went to school with a Dave Shillingford in Canford school in Dorset in mid 1980s. Looking at his face – I am sure it must be him. He was 3 or 4 years older so assume he is late 40s now. We didn’t socialise at Canford school being in different years so would never have discussed or realised that 9 years earlier we attended the same school in a tiny town in Australia. Small world!

Hi Lloyd, that is an extraordinary coincidence, it is indeed the same David Shillingford that went to Canford. We too lived in Darley Rd while our father served at HMAS Cerberus. We left in 1976. Drop me an email to sshillingford@hotmail.co.uk if you’d like to be put in touch with David. Sarah
